Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with family, friends, and others in your personal and/or professional network. There are clearly lots of advantages including, of course, that it is free. However, there has also been a lot of discussion about using Facebook without risking your online identity and even your physical safety.

Facebook Places is a relatively new feature that allows you to check in at various places like bars, restaurants, book stores and more. Your friends can also tag you at these places and of course, everyone and anyone can see that information.
By default, Facebook Places is enabled and set so everyone can see where you were and when you were tagged. Can you imagine the possibilities? Depending on your Account & Privacy settings, everyone in the universe can see where you are and where you aren't. Since you're not home, maybe this is a good time for a break in at your house? Your children are at the movies, maybe that bully from school is going to approach him because now he knows where they are and probably vulnerable.
